First things first: Benton is not Bentonville
The two get mixed up, so it is worth saying up front. Benton is the seat of Saline County, about 25 miles southwest of Little Rock on I-30. Bentonville is the seat of Benton County, more than 200 miles away in the northwest corner of the state. Quotes, carriers, and transit times for the two are different.
When you fill in the quote form, use a Benton ZIP code, 72015 or 72019, and check that the city on your confirmation is the right one.
On the I-30 corridor to Texas
I-30 is the direct route between central Arkansas and Dallas, and Benton sits right on it. Car carriers running between Little Rock and Texarkana, Dallas, or Houston drive past the Benton exits all day, so stopping here costs them almost no extra miles. Trucks bound for I-40 or I-55 pick up those highways in Little Rock and North Little Rock, half an hour up the road.
Texas is the most natural destination from here. Dallas is under 300 miles away, and Austin, San Antonio, and Houston are a day’s drive for a truck. If you are moving to or from Texas, expect more carrier choices and shorter waits than on most other routes out of Arkansas.
Benton neighborhoods and nearby towns
- Downtown and the courthouse square. Older streets with angle parking. Drivers prefer to meet a few blocks out, along Military Road.
- Military Road and Alcoa Road. The main retail areas have large lots and quick access to the interstate, which makes them the usual meeting points.
- Longhills, Hurricane Lake, and other subdivisions. Curving residential streets and cul-de-sacs. The truck normally stays on the main road into the neighborhood.
- Salem, Avilla, and the county roads. North and west of town the roads are two-lane, hilly, and wooded. Pickups there are usually arranged at a store or church lot on the highway.
We also cover Haskell, Bauxite, Sardis, and East End.
Hot Springs Village and seasonal residents
Hot Springs Village, one of the largest gated communities in the country, is about 20 miles northwest of Benton. Thousands of retirees live there, and many split the year between Arkansas and another state. Shipping a car at each change of season is routine for them.
Two things are different about a Village pickup. The carrier needs a gate pass, which the resident arranges ahead of time. And the roads inside are hilly and winding, with few places for a long truck to turn. Many drivers ask to meet near the east gate on Highway 5 instead, which is quicker for everyone.
The road to Hot Springs
US 70 leaves I-30 a few miles southwest of Benton and runs to Hot Springs and its lakes. Carriers will make that trip, but it takes them off the interstate, so a Hot Springs pickup can take longer to schedule than one in Benton. Some lake-house owners meet the truck in Benton to save a day or two.
Moving to Saline County from out of state
Many people who take jobs in Little Rock choose to live in Benton, and their cars often arrive before the furniture does. If you are flying in, Clinton National Airport is about half an hour away, so arrange a ride or a rental for the first few days.
The car can be delivered to a rental house, a relative’s driveway, or the lot of a storage facility during its office hours. What it cannot do is sit unattended. Someone has to meet the driver, look the vehicle over, and sign for it.
Booking tips for Saline County
Mid-morning on a weekday is the easiest time for a carrier to stop in Benton. I-30 between here and Little Rock is a commuter road, and it crawls in the early morning and late afternoon, especially on Fridays. A driver who has to sit through that will ask to move the appointment.
For most of the year, a week of notice is plenty on the Texas routes. Give it two weeks in summer and around the winter holidays, and three if you are a seasonal resident shipping north in spring or south in fall along with everyone else.
Routes from Benton
Distances and typical transit times, with the Texas routes that I-30 makes easy at the top.
| Destination | Distance | Typical time on the truck |
|---|---|---|
| Texarkana, TX | About 120 miles | 1 to 2 days |
| Shreveport, LA | About 190 miles | 1 to 2 days |
| Dallas, TX | About 295 miles | 2 to 4 days |
| Houston, TX | About 410 miles | 2 to 4 days |
| Austin, TX | About 490 miles | 2 to 4 days |
| San Antonio, TX | About 570 miles | 2 to 4 days |

| Phoenix, AZ | About 1,320 miles | 4 to 6 days |

Mileage is approximate. Transit times are typical ranges once the vehicle is loaded, not guarantees. Weather, traffic, and other stops on the truck can shift them.
Benton car shipping questions
How long does shipping from Benton to Dallas take?
Two to four days is typical once the car is loaded. The distance is short, but the truck has other vehicles to collect and deliver along the way. If you need the car by a certain day, tell us and we will say what is realistic.
Can I ship my car to Benton before I move in?
Yes, as long as an adult can receive it. A relative, a friend, or your real estate agent can sign for the car and park it until you arrive.
Do you ship golf carts to Hot Springs Village?
Golf carts are quoted by phone. Have the make, the dimensions, and whether it is gas or electric ready when you call the Benton office.
My house is up a steep gravel drive off a county road. Can you still pick up?
Yes, at the bottom. The driver will ask you to bring the car to the paved road or to a nearby lot, where there is room to load safely.
Can you take a classic car to a show and bring it back?
Yes. Book it as two one-way trips, each with its own dates, and choose enclosed transport if the car is show-ready. Tell us the event schedule so pickup at the far end is not set for the middle of the show.
Can the price change after I get a quote?
The quote is all-in for the details you entered. It changes only if those details change, for example a different vehicle, a car that turns out not to run, or a different ZIP code.
