The crossroads of Northwest Arkansas
Springdale is where the region’s two main highways cross. I-49 runs north to Bentonville and Kansas City and south to Fayetteville and I-40. US 412, called Sunset Avenue through town, heads west to Tulsa and east into the Ozarks toward Harrison. Of the four large cities in Northwest Arkansas, Springdale is the one a truck can reach from any direction without backtracking.
It is also a working city. Tyson Foods has its headquarters here, J.B. Hunt is based next door in Lowell, and poultry plants, distribution centers, and truck yards line the highways. Many streets were built with trucks in mind, and carriers have less trouble finding a place to load here than in most of the region.
Work trucks, vans, and fleet vehicles
Springdale shipments often involve vehicles that earn their keep: contractor pickups, cargo vans, and utility-body trucks. They ride on the same carriers as cars, with a few extra things to sort out first.
- Describe the upfit. Ladder racks, utility beds, and liftgates change a vehicle’s height and weight. If it stands taller than about seven feet, give us the measurement.
- Empty it. Tools, parts, and materials add weight and are not covered in transit. Clear the bed and the cargo area before pickup.
- Ship several together. If your business is sending two or more vehicles to the same place, call the office so they are booked as one job. They can often travel on the same truck.
- Dealer and auction vehicles. We coordinate with the seller’s hours and release process. Have the stock or lot number and a contact name ready.
Loading spots around Springdale
- Thompson Street and Sunset Avenue. The two main commercial roads have the widest lanes and the largest parking lots in the city.
- Downtown and Emma Avenue. The rebuilt downtown has narrower streets and curbside parking. During the Rodeo of the Ozarks in early summer, the blocks around Parsons Stadium are crowded or closed.
- The west side and Tontitown. Newer subdivisions with wide streets. Give the driver a gate code if you have one.
- East Springdale. Out along Highway 412 East and Old Missouri Road the land gets hillier and more rural, and the truck may need to meet you on the main road.
We also serve Lowell, Johnson, Elm Springs, and Bethel Heights.
The Tulsa connection
US 412 puts Tulsa about two hours away, and a good share of Springdale traffic runs in that direction. Carriers coming from the west on I-44 use the same road to reach Northwest Arkansas, which makes Springdale their first stop in the region. Part of the route in Oklahoma is the Cherokee Turnpike, a toll road, and carriers build tolls into their price.
At roughly 110 miles, Tulsa is close enough that you could drive it. Shipping makes more sense when you are buying a vehicle you have not seen, moving one that does not run, or sending several at once.
Transfers between plant towns
The food and logistics companies based here move people between Springdale and smaller towns across the South and Midwest. If that is your situation, remember that both ends of the trip set the price. Springdale is simple for a carrier. A town of a few thousand people an hour from the nearest interstate is not, and delivery there can add a day or two and some cost. Give us both ZIP codes early so there are no surprises.
Selling a truck to an out-of-state buyer
Used trucks sell well online, and the buyer is often several states away. The buyer normally books and pays for the shipping, but as the seller you control the handoff, so a few habits protect you.
- Do not release the vehicle until the payment has fully cleared, whatever the pickup schedule says.
- Ask the buyer for the booking details, so you know which carrier to expect and can confirm the driver is the right one.
- Photograph the truck from every side as it is loaded, and keep your copy of the inspection report.
- Take your plates off and remove your toll tag and garage remote before the driver arrives.
Days to work around
Springdale traffic is predictable, with two exceptions. Rodeo week brings a parade and evening crowds downtown, and Northwest Arkansas Naturals home games fill the roads around Arvest Ballpark for an hour before the first pitch. On those days ask for a morning slot. Shift changes at the larger plants also clog nearby roads for a few minutes, something your driver may already know from other stops.
Springdale shipping routes
Distances and typical transit times, weighted toward the Plains and Midwest cities that US 412 and I-49 lead to.
| Destination | Distance | Typical time on the truck |
|---|---|---|
| Tulsa, OK | About 110 miles | 1 to 2 days |
| Oklahoma City, OK | About 215 miles | 1 to 2 days |
| Kansas City, MO | About 230 miles | 1 to 2 days |
| Wichita, KS | About 280 miles | 2 to 4 days |
| Memphis, TN | About 325 miles | 2 to 4 days |
| Omaha, NE | About 415 miles | 2 to 4 days |
| Albuquerque, NM | About 760 miles | 3 to 5 days |
| Las Vegas, NV | About 1,330 miles | 4 to 6 days |
| Portland, OR | About 2,030 miles | 7 to 10 days |
Mileage is approximate. Transit times are typical ranges once the vehicle is loaded, not guarantees. Weather, traffic, and other stops on the truck can shift them.
Springdale car shipping questions
Can you ship a truck with a ladder rack or utility bed?
Yes. Send us the overall height and tell us what is mounted on it. Tall or heavy trucks are placed on a specific part of the trailer, and some need a different type of carrier.
Can the carrier load at my shop or job site?
If there is room for an 80-foot truck to pull in and out on firm ground, yes. Paved or packed-gravel yards work. Soft or muddy ground does not, and the driver will ask to load on the street.
Do you handle dealer-to-dealer moves?
Yes. Tell us both dealerships, the stock number, and who releases the vehicle. We schedule around business hours at each end.
Is it cheaper to ship from Springdale than from Fayetteville or Rogers?
The difference is usually small, since the same carriers serve all three on one trip along I-49. Use the ZIP code where the vehicle actually is.
Can I ship more than one vehicle?
Yes. Call the office so the vehicles are booked together. We try to place them on the same truck, although that depends on the space a carrier has that week.
